Former school friends rekindle friendship 60 years later

Old school friends Cheryl and Denise have reconnected more than 60 years later, rekindling their friendship as future neighbours at Fairway Carindale.

Memories of their primary school days flooded back for two former friends, who recently reconnected at a future resident’s event at Fairway Carindale. Having lost touch when Denise’s family relocated to Victoria, the former school yard besties are excited to embark upon a new chapter in their lives as neighbours.

“I have fond memories of my friendship with Cheryl at Yeronga State School, spending our lunchtimes together and even going to her family’s house for a Sunday dinner,” said Denise.

“Sadly, we lost touch when my family moved away and we haven’t connected since. It wasn’t until the Fairway Carindale future residents’ event in December 2022 that I saw Cheryl and realised we are both moving into the new community.

“My husband Glenn and I are so excited to start our new life at Fairway Carindale and to already know someone, is fantastic. We are at that phase of our life that we want to be part of a connected community, living with minimal maintenance and making new friendships – little did I know that one of those friendships isn’t so new and goes back to primary school.”

Cheryl said it was a pleasant surprise to reconnect with Denise at the Fairway event, sharing stories of years gone by and making plans for the future.

“I was so surprised to see Denise again after all these years apart. To have a familiar face when my husband Alan and I move in, will be wonderful. Life has definitely come full circle, from school friends to now neighbours in our retirement years,” said Cheryl.

“My husband and I chose Fairway Carindale as it is in the same area where we’ve spent most of our life. We know the local amenities and have family and friends close by. This is an exciting new chapter for us. Denise and I have a lot to catch up on, having spent so much time apart. I’m excited to get to know her again. We are both grandmothers and can share this new part of our life together as neighbours.”

Construction is well under way on Pacific Golf Club’s new state-of-the-art clubhouse, a $100 million upgrade that will be a major social hub for the luxurious golf-side retreat.

Progress on the residential development has risen to new heights, with the apartment levels for both buildings now well advanced and the blockwork for both buildings almost complete.

Offering retirement living with a difference, homes within Fairway include a range of one, two and three-bedroom apartments, plus premium penthouses. Most apartments feature expansive views from the master bedroom, living spaces, kitchen and balcony and some include a butler’s pantry, media room or study.
