Fairway Carindale’s village manager, Karen Kelly, is thrilled to join residents in their new community, embarking on a new adventure together!
With almost 20 years’ experience in the retirement industry, residents are in capable hands with Karen. A mum of two and a keen baker, Karen brings a calming presence and offers plenty of support for downsizers settling into their new homes at Fairway.
We asked Karen a bit more about her experience and what she’s enjoying most about her new role!
You’ve worked in the retirement sector for many years, could you tell me a bit about your background?
“I started in the retirement industry back in 2005, working in sales as an assistant in the office. For the past 10 years I’ve been a village manager at a small village of 86 units, so I have many years management experience to bring to Fairway.
I’m really excited about the residents moving into Fairway and being part of that experience with them. Retirement is a big move and it can be a stressful move in residents’ lives. I like to try and be that calming factor for them.”
What excites you the most about working at Fairway?
“With Fairway bringing new builds from the ground-up, I find that very exciting and it’s a new adventure for the residents moving in. I hope to be a manager that everyone finds approachable and for it to be an exciting journey for new residents and myself.
Overall, I hope that it’s just a fun and enjoyable environment for everybody, including the residents’ families that visit.”
What do you like about working at Reside?
“The thing that excited me the most is the way Reside’s leadership are always at the communities. I think that it’s good for residents to see management in and around the village, and it helps support me with my role.”
How are you finding the role so far?
“I stared in November 2023 and I’m really enjoying it. There’s a lot to do but that is the challenge that I wanted. I wanted a new experience from the ground-up and I’m loving the challenge.”
What about weekends, what do you enjoy doing in your downtime?
“I’m a mum of two. I like to potter around the garden and do yoga. I love to cook and like to bake. I’ve always said that if my kids remember me for one thing it’s my cooked breakfast on a Sunday and I’m happy with that!”
