Community comes together for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea
Residents raise funds for Cancer Council Australia
Residents recently gathered for a wonderful morning of friendship, fundraising and community spirit as Fairway Carindale hosted Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.
This was the first event to be organised by the community’s dedicated Social Committee, and brought residents together to enjoy a delicious spread of homemade treats while raising funds for Cancer Council Australia.
A highlight of the morning was a special presentation from guest speaker Dr Liane Lockwood, who shared her experiences from a distinguished career in paediatric oncology. Dr Lockwood served as Director of Oncology at the Royal Children’s Hospital from 1993 to 2005 and later as a Senior Paediatric Oncologist at the Queensland Children’s Hospital until her retirement in 2024.
Fairway Carindale Village Manager Bronwyn O’Brien thanked residents for their generosity and support.
“Our Social Committee has done a fantastic job organising this event and it was wonderful to see so many residents come together for such an important cause,” she said.
“Events like this are a great example of the strong sense of community we have here at Fairway. Not only did residents enjoy a lovely morning together, but they also raised valuable funds to support cancer research and those affected by cancer.”
